Trip overview
The peak of Lhakpa Ri is becoming an ever more notable expedition in Tibet, and many climbers have been attracted to it these days. It offers great climbing in Tibet where it divides the upper East Rongbuk, and Kharta glaciers. It is very close to Everest, and was first climbed by George Mallory on the Everest Reconnaissance expedition of 1921. The Expedition starts from Kathmandu via Tingri, and the Everest Base Camp (also the Lhakpa Ri Base Camp) at 5200m. After summiting the peak there are various options for the return to Kathmandu. Either via Shigatse, and Lhasa, the ancient capital city of Tibet or directly back to Kathmandu. This new route will stir up the enthusiastic, and charming feelings of a beautiful adventure.
