Annapurna means “The goddess of Abundance”. The Annapurna region lies in the middle hills of Nepal. It is one of the most famous trekking destinations, due to its natural beauty, cultural, and ethnic diversity, and proximity. It is explored by around 60,000 trekkers every year. The first mountain above 8000m conquered was Mount Annapurna. It was climbed by Maurice Herzog, and Louis Lachenal on June 3rd, 1950. The broadest pass, Thorong-la pass (5416m), the deepest gorge, the Kali Gandaki at Dana, and the biggest rhododendron forest in the world are the major attractions of the region.
