Trip overview
The Mardi Himal trekking journey is located in the eastern portion of the Annapurna Base Camp path and offers breathtaking views of snow-capped mountains such as Mardi Himal (5553m), Hiunchuli (6443m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), and other peaks. The Mardi Himal Climb is one of Nepal’s simpler hikes, ideal for beginners. In recent years, Mardi Himal has become one of the most popular and easy-to-trek destinations for many domestic trekkers.
Since it is part of Nepal’s great Himalayas, the Nepalese government has protected it. The Mardi Himal trip itinerary can be tailored as per the hikers’ preferences. It is possible to do it in the same manner as the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. The Mardi Himal walk is so refreshing for people who don’t have much time for a 10–24 day long trekking plan. This trip allows you to take a solitary stroll through the secluded routes of the region. The Mardi Himal Trail is a short and simple trip that is suitable for both new and experienced hikers. The trial allows us to have a good time at Forest Camp, High Camp, and Low Camp which help to rejuvenate our spiritual and wilderness adventurous souls.
Highlights:
- Photograph the beautiful landscape and rhododendron woodland as you travel from Kathmandu to Kande.
- The best views of the Fishtail and Mardi Himal.
- the greatest sunrise and sunset views from Australian Camp.
- Feel the warmth of nature and joyful people.
Itinerary
Day 1 Welcome to Kathmandu! Our team will pick you up from the airport (TIA) and transfer you to a hotel near Thamel with your room keys.
The following day is for relaxation and preparation for your trek; you will visit the Kathmandu valley and learn about the culture and traditions of Nepal's various ethnic groups. At the same time, you will get time to shop for trekking gear in Thamel market.
The Pokhara route follows the banks of the Trisula River, where you can stop for a couple of hours for rafting. When you arrive in Pokhara, check into your hotel before exploring the lakeside and unwinding over dinner. The Phewa Lake in Pokhara offers boating and evening Shiva aaratis by the lakeside. Mt. Machhapuchhare (22,890 ft./6977 m.), also known as Fishtail Peak, can be seen from there.
After breakfast, drive about an hour from Pokhara to the trek's starting point. After a leisurely lunch with stunning mountain views at Australian Camp, descend to Pothana (6397 ft./1900 m.). Your first night's lodging has a stunning view of Machhapuchare.
The whole trek leads to traditional helmets, an enchanting forest of birch, Rhododendron giganteum, mountain oak, maple, and hemlock. Trekking will provide stunning mountain views if the weather is clear.
The 5-hour trek to Badal Danda provides you with an easy trail with lots of small showering streams and, likewise, diverse melodic sounds of birds.
It's only a short, steep climb out of the forest. A grassy ridge, sometimes covered in snow, leads up to High Camp. Arrive by lunchtime and spend the afternoon acclimating with breathtaking views. Annapurna South will appear to be a stone's throw away, and Machhapuchare will appear close enough to touch.
After an early breakfast, depart for Mardi Himal Base Camp. If the weather cooperates, you will hike up to 16,404 feet (5000 meters), where only the crest of Mardi Himal separates you from the south face of Machhapuchare. The Sanctuary Wall's vast ice fields and blue glaciers are visible below. The highest peak, Annapurna I, is beyond, and the surrounding panorama ranges from Dhaulagiri to Ganesh Himal.
It will be time to descend in the early afternoon. Enjoy a hot drink and hot food at your Middle Camp tea house.
After a leisurely breakfast, descend 5249 feet through the shade of the forest and out onto terraced fields. You'll take a different path down to the upper Mardi Khola, a torrent that was once the Mardi Himal's ice and snow. Your expedition now follows the arm valley and past friendly villages into Kalimati, despite being remote and still off the beaten 'tea-house' trekking routes.
From Siding, the path gradually follows the contour of the river valley, down between the pastures, and through Tamang and Gurung villages. You'll eventually arrive at Lwang village, your overnight stop. Organic tea gardens can be found here. In the evening, meet a mothers' group that works to raise funds for local projects in the evening.
Spend the night in your one-of-a-kind and authentic homestay.
Take a leisurely stroll along an outcrop and back to the road, where you'll meet your return transportation to Pokhara.
It's time to say goodbye to Nepal. Our team will drop you at the airport before 2 hours of your flight and make sure you got everything with you.
